Participants will have an understanding of:
A variety of deformities appropriate for deformity correction and limb lengthening.
Treatment options for pediatric and adult orthopedic deformities.
Participants will be able to identify precautions to observe when treating a patient undergoing limb lengthening.
Participants will be familiar with basic treatment protocols for patients undergoing:
Femoral lengthening (internal vs external fixation).
Tibial lengthening (internal vs external fixation).
Humeral lengthening (internal vs external fixation).
Participants will have an understanding of the pitfalls of limb lengthening and prevention and treatment strategies.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
Observe live, and in-person, Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions geared toward their target patient population.
Participate in problem solving sessions to discuss cases observed, or cases that they present, with the experienced Paley Rehabilitation Therapists.
Attend labs targeted to their needs (LiteGait, Stretch for Lengthening, and/or Splinting).
